How We Run Tongits Tables at saphirvip

Certified Shuffle Logic

Our Tongits engine uses a certified random shuffle on every deal. Each 52-card deck is reset and re-randomised at the start of each hand — no carry-over from previous rounds.

Hand History Access

Every hand you play is logged in your account history with card-by-card detail. You can review any completed round to check draw sequences and final scores anytime.

Disconnection Protection

If your connection drops mid-hand, the table holds your position for a short window. Your last valid game state is saved so a reconnect restores the hand exactly as it was.

Transparent Scoring

Point totals for each player are displayed at the end of every hand before the next deal starts. Face card values, ace counts, and meld deductions are all shown on screen.

saphirvip The Basics Every New Tongits Player Needs

The Basics Every New Tongits Player Needs

Tongits is a rummy-style game dealt to three players from a standard 52-card deck. Each player starts with 12 cards; the dealer takes 13. Your goal is to lower your hand's total point value by forming melds — sets of three or more matching ranks, or sequences of the same suit. On your turn, draw from the central pile or take the

top discard, then discard one card face-up. Win outright by emptying your hand completely, which is the Tongits call, or force a draw challenge when the central pile runs out. Aces count as one point; face cards count as ten.

Tongits Glossary for New Players

What is a meld in Tongits?

A meld is a valid card grouping you lay down from your hand. It is either a set of three or more cards of the same rank, or a sequence of three or more cards in the same suit.

What does Sapaw mean in Tongits?

Sapaw means adding cards to an existing meld on the table — yours or another player's. It lets you shed extra cards and lower your hand's point count before the draw pile runs out.

What is a draw challenge in Tongits?

When the central draw pile empties, any player who has laid a meld can call a draw challenge. The player with the lowest remaining hand points wins that challenge and collects the pot.

What does calling Tongits mean?

Calling Tongits means a player has played all cards from their hand through melds and discards, leaving zero cards. It is an outright win that ends the round immediately in that player's favour.

How are card points counted in Tongits?

Number cards count at face value; aces count as one point; jacks, queens, and kings each count as ten. Cards already laid in melds score zero — only unmelded cards in hand count against you.

What is a burnt hand in Tongits?

A burnt hand occurs when a player is caught holding cards that cannot form any valid meld and the draw pile runs out. That player pays a penalty to the winner under standard Tongits scoring rules.

Common Questions About Starting Tongits

Tongits is strictly a three-player game. Each table at saphirvip seats exactly three — one dealer and two others. If a seat opens during a round, the table pauses until a replacement joins or the hand is resolved.

Not through the draw challenge route — you need at least one laid meld to call a draw challenge. You can still win outright by playing every card through discards and melds, but holding all cards with no melds is a losing position when the pile empties.

The player who called first takes priority. If the calls come in the same turn sequence, the player sitting closest to the left of the dealer resolves first. Our table logs record the exact call timestamp so disputes can be reviewed.

Yes — each turn at our digital Tongits tables has a fixed timer shown on screen. If time runs out before you draw and discard, the system automatically draws from the pile and discards your highest-value unmelded card.

A valid sequence needs at least three cards of the same suit in consecutive rank order — for example, 5, 6, 7 of hearts. Suits cannot mix inside a sequence. The in-game rules panel on every Tongits table shows worked examples for quick reference.
